In this episode, The War and Treaty (Michael and Tanya Trotter) absolutely blow the top off of our Moon River Sessions—singing “Hit Dawg Will Holla” from their album “Down to the Water” and a piece of “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” Michael and Tanya also discuss the power of music, the inspiration of Mavis Staples and Pops Staples, sacrificing yourself for others, and how music helps people cope with adversity.
We can’t tell you how excited we are to share these amazing performances that we captured backstage at the Moon River Music Festival. We feel that these sessions capture the heart of the festival and show the depth of talent from another angle. These sessions also help keep the music alive by helping the Songbirds Foundation raise money to buy guitars for kids…check out our page to find out more.
The guitar, played by Max Brown, is an absolutely stunning 1939 Martin D-28 courtesy of the Songbirds Guitar Museum in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Thanks to the Moon River Festival and AC Entertainment for letting us be a part of this monumental musical occasion. Also, hats off to our sponsors— The Riverview Foundation, Schillhahn-Huskey Foundation, GHS Strings, GoGo Tuners, and Todd Sharp Amplifiers. Special thanks to Super Chief and John Dooley for the great video work, and Daniel Nelson for the spectacular audio work.
WE HAVE SOME BIG SESSIONS COMING SOON: American Aquarium, Gangstagrass, Junior Brown, The Marcus King Band, Larkin Poe, and more Moon River Sessions. Subscribe for more!
